Published by the British Art Company, with embossed mark of the Fine Art Trade Guild at lower left.
Kemp-Welch specialized in paintings of working horses, and is especially noted for her works of military horse during World War I. She painted the source image for the famous army recruitment poster, "Forward! Forward to Victory Enlist Now," and her war paintings were exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1917, the year of this print.
