A twelve-inch terrestrial globe by Josiah Loring of Boston, having a brass vertical ring measuring degrees, and horizontal ring with zodiac signs and months, with hand-colored paper and cartouche reading Loring's / Terrestrial Globe / containing all / The Late Discoveries / And / Geographical Improvements, / also the Tracks of / the most celebrated Circumnavigators. / Compiled from Smith's new English Globe with / additions and improvements by Annin & Smith. / Boston / Josiah Loring, 136 Washington St_1833. The whole on a maple turned base with stretchers; oah. 18 in.
Provenance: Property from the Collection of Dr. James and Betty Sutherland, Cincinnati, OHFading, minor staining and paper losses to globe, particularly upper half. Expected wear to base and horizon ring.Condition
