Tolkien, J.R.R. THE HOBBIT OR THERE AND BACK AGAIN. Boston/New York: Houghton, Mifflin Company, 1938. First Edition, First Issue (bowing hobbit on title, etc.) 8 1/16 by 6 inches, rebound in brown cloth with gilt titling to the spine. Housed in a custom woven cloth clamshell box with a printed paper label to the spine.
Missing last color plate. Text block may have been cut down slightly at the top of pages. Front hinge cracked. A few pages with spots of foxing; corner of page 132/133 with small closed tear; slight exposure at front inner hinge opposite title page. Custom clamshell is Fine.Condition
