Bede, Cuthbert (pseudonym for Edward Bradley). THE ADVENTURES OF MR. VERDANT GREEN, AN OXFORD FRESHMAN; THE FURTHER ADVENTURES OF MR. VERDANT GREEN, AN OXFORD UNDERGRADUATE; MR. VERDANT GREEN, MARRIED AND DONE FOR. London: N. Cooke, 1853; 1857;1857. 1st and 3rd titles are First Editions. 8vo in full morocco fine binding by Zaehnsdorf for A.C. McClurg with gilt tooling and titling to the spine. Bradley (1827-1889) was an English clergyman and author who was educated at University College, Durham. He took his pen name, Cuthbert Bede, from the names of the two patron saints of Durham. He was a friend of George Cruikshank who admired Bradley's drawings including those he created for the Verdant Green series.
Modest rubbing to edges and head and tail of spine, otherwise VG. Original pictorial wrapper covers bound in.Condition
