Putnam's Sons, 1910, Standard Library Edition. 8vo, green cloth with gilt spine lettering and gilt facsimile signature on front; Vol. 1, frontis of young Roosevelt, 352pp, folding map in rear, plus 2pp publisher's ads; Vol. 2, frontis of Daniel Boone, 427pp, folding map, 2pp ads; Vol. 3, frontis of Cave-In Rock on the Ohio River, 339pp, folding map, 2pp publisher's ads; Vol. 4, frontis of E.C. Genet, French Ambassador to US, 365pp, folding map, 2pp publisher's ads. The set covers the founding of nation, from the push past the Allegheny Mountains, 1769-1776 (vol. 1), to the Mississippi River, 1777-1783 (vol. 2), the establishment of the states carved out of the Northwest Territory 1784-1790 (vol. 3), and finally the addition of the Louisiana Purchase 1791-1807 (vol. 4).
