Thompson, C.S (1873-1961). Typed manuscript for the biography, The Life and Works of Dr. Lee de Forest, Inventor of the Three-Electrode Vacuum Tube, with inked annotations and edits, 164pp, ca 1930s, plus 7 copies of photographs and news articles concerning the inventor.
Lee de Forest (1873-1961), the self-described "Father of Radio," was best known for inventing the Audion vacuum tube, which made radio, telephone, radar, television, and computer systems possible. Although his invention was widely used, poor business skills meant he did not profit as much from his innovation. Another slight happened when he was strongly supported for the Nobel Prize in physics but did not win the coveted award.
Toning of the paper and some brittleness to the outer margins. The cover page has a tear and some of the sheets are affixed to a whole sheet of paper.
