Knuckle Arm Windsor Chair
American (New England), late 18th century. A Windsor armchair in mixed hardwoods, having a six-spindle back, a saddle seat, ring-turned arm supports, and carved knuckle handholds, all rising on splayed, baluster- and ring-turned legs joined by a bulbous H-form stretcher; oah. 38.5 in.
Provenance: Purchased by the consignor from Kemble's in Norwich, Ohio in 1999.
Possibly a marriage with later components. Some minor surface wear as would be expected with age and use, including some nicks and chips. Some height loss. Retains remnants of old green paint under knuckles and in some joints.
