A desirable Civil War-period map presenting the state and territory borders, including the large western territories of Dakota, which incorporates what is present-day Montana and part of Wyoming, Nebraska with its western border on Washington and Utah, Washington encompassing present-day Idaho, Nevada, and Arizona, which is located below New Mexico Territory. The map also identifies several military forts. With nine inset plans of major towns and harbors such as Hampton Roads, Charleston Harbor, Key West, Baltimore, and Washington at right and bottom.
