Portrait of John Chambers

inscribed on verso John Chambers / born at Gothenburg. Febr. 1726 / painted by Rigaud / London . Decem. 1776

Condition
The portrait by Rigaud was relined and has craquelure, now stabilized, throughout. There is a significant amount of in-painting around the figure, along the edges, and a few smaller spots just above the head and on the coat. Lines of craquelure were also filled here and there. Finally, there is a wear to the frame, including chips.
