American, ca 1830-31. A shelf clock by John Birge (Bristol, CT) having an early brass eight-day time and strike movement in a rare A-shape influenced by Joseph Ives, also with wooden winding spools. The wooden case with eagle carved crest and decoratively carved pillars, the dial over a mirror and reverse-painted panel; oah. 36.75, wd. 16.75, dp. 5 in.
