Liverpool polychromed transfer pottery jug/pitcher/ featuring a fine, large portrait of John Adams surmounted by a small Federal eagle, with the legend "John Adams President of the United States" below. The opposite side features oval panel and the phrase “As he tills your rich glebe, the old peasant thall tell, While his bosom with Liberty glows, How your Warren expired___how Montgomery fell And how Washington humbled your foes,” surrounded by American flags, liberty hat and olive wreath, “Independence” banner and foliage. Under the pouring spout is "Success to America" surrounded by a wreath, and spread-winged eagle below. With inked note attached on underside of base stating the "Old Jug Belonged to the old Maul family of Lewes Del. and passed to Israel Conwell and was sold at his sale in Lewes and was purchased by Mrs. John Mitcoff. Was purchased from Mrs. J. Mitcoff August 29, 1913..." Height 9.5 in. The jug has undergone extensive restoration. Despite condition, the rarity of this John Adams presidential jug makes this a highly desirable piece.

At the request of the buyer, Cowan's will authorize the shipment of purchased items. Shipments usually occur within two weeks after payment has been received. Shipment is generally made via UPS Ground service. Unless buyer gives special instructions, the shipping method shall be at the sole discretion of Cowan's Auctions, Inc..
