- Lot Description
*Jack Haugh Custom Mauser 98 Rifle
9.3 x 64 caliber, 24" barrel length, S/N 82897 . The Mauser 98 action is marked " Waffenfabrik Mauser--Oberndorf A/N ." Jeweled bolt with blued extractor. Model 70-type safety. Four-panel checkered bolt knob with an engraved roseate tip. Sides of the action rings are engraved with delicate scroll as are the floorplate, triggerguard and trap grip can. Bottom metal is custom drop box with the floorplate release in the guard bow. Island rear sight containing a fixed 50 yard leaf and two folding leaves for 100 and 150 yards. The leaves have gold inlaid triangles or lines. The stock is English walnut with rich, red Alkanet Root color and black streaks. The stock has a pancake cheek piece and 28 LPI point pattern checkering which extends around the forend. The forend tip is ebony. The stock is fitted with a leather covered recoil pad and 2 cross bolts with decorated heads. The stock has a blank gold initial shield near the toe. Scroll engraved 1" blued Kimber side lever detachable scope rings are included along with a Kahles 2.5 scope with crosshair reticle. LOP is 14". The rifle comes in a Huey oak and leather custom made case with canvas cover.
Retains all the finish exhibiting no wear. The stock is near excellent with minor blemishes. The bore is excellent. Mechanically excellent. The case is chestnut in color and the internal and external condition is near excellent. This is a great example of a Jack Haugh's custom rifle.Condition
