Isaac Augustus Wetherby (American, 1819-1904)
Folk Portraits of Mr. & Mrs. Haven B. Sargent of Boston
oil on canvas
both signed and dated on front of canvas and verso, and bearing stamps of Boston artists' store Hollis & Wheeler
both housed in gilt frames
30 x 24.5 in. (sight)The lot also includes documentation about the pair of portraits and the artist: a copy of the 1845 oage of Wetherby's account book in which he listed the two paintings, and a copy of an article about Wetherby published in Folk Art in in 2007.
Condition
One patch repair to back of Mr. and two on Mrs. Small areas of craquelure on both.
