- Lot Description
Indian and Persian. A group five Indian miniatures housed in a white frame, accompanied by fifteen loose manuscripts on cardboard. The lot also includes seven Persian illuminated manuscripts on paper enclosed in a embroidered leather portfolio. According to a hand-written note in the portfolio, the manuscripts recount the story of Rustam, a famed Iranian hero; 11.75 x 8 (sheet size of the seven manuscripts), 6 x 3.75 in. (image size of miniatures), 11 x 34.5 in. (full frame size).
The portfolio is severely damaged, with losses to the textile cover, More importantly, the binging is torn all the way. Each individual sheet has wormholes and small losses along the edges and in the corners. The manuscripts and miniatures are stained in some areas. The loose manuscripts appear to have been previously bound in a book, as remnants of linen tape along the edges suggest.Condition
