- Lot Description
.69 caliber, 43.75" barrel, retained by three barrel bands, bright finish, walnut stock. Flint lock marked with an intertwined US over ED & Co and dated 1800 at the tail. Intertwined PV mark on breech. Appears to be a well executed reconversion to flint. Sling swivels, iron ramrod, reproduction wood tampion. To date "ED & Co" has not been identified, but a number of small makers were producing "Charleville" pattern muskets ca 1800 in the US and this is one of those scarce, pre-War of 1812 contract arms, likely delivered to a state.
Good to very good. Metal cleaned with a gray patina and scattered oxidation, discoloration and pitting; mostly on the lock. Mechanically functional. Good bore that is dirty. Stock solid, but lightly sanded with some dings and mars and some carved initials.Condition
