Lot Description

Morris, F. O. A HISTORY OF BRITISH BIRDS. London: Groombridge and Sons, no date (ca. 1860's). 8 volumes, 7 3/8 by 5 inches in contemporary 1/2 leather and cloth, complete with 358 hand colored and hand finished plates. Francis Orpen Morris (1810 - 1893) was an Irish clergyman, entomologist and ornithologist who was also a prolific author, writing books for children and natural history books. This is the complete octavo set of a title which was also produced in a larger 4to format.

Condition

The bindings show scuffing and wear with chipping to the head and tail of the spines. The color plates show occasional foxing but are generally quite clean and fresh.
