Lot Description

Meggendorfer, Lothar. LEBENDE BILDER VON L. MEGGENDORFER. Munich: Braun & Schneider, (ca. 1878). Elste Auflage. 12 3/4 by 9 3/8 inches in color pictorial board covers with renewed cloth spine. A great production by the genius Mr. Meggendorfer. Complete with 8 terrific hand colored plates, each with hinged movable parts - each in working order. Meggendorfer (1847-1925) was a magazine editor, illustrator, cartoonist and creator of board games. The "Movable Book Society" presents an annual award named after the artist.

Condition

The tabs show soiling and handling wear (fairly typical); and the text pages show offsetting/marking (related to the hinged illustration opposite); but the overall condition is Very Good, much better than often encountered with this irresistible toy-book. The coloring is quite strong.
