Lot Description

Scriverius, Petrus. PRINCIPES HOLLANDIAIE ET WESTFRISIAE ab anno Christi 863 et primo comite Theodorico usque ad ultimum Philippum Hispaniarum regem, aeri amnes incisi ac fideliter descripti auspiciis Petri Scriverii.... Harlem: Soutman, 1650. 20 1/2 by 15 3/4 inches in full gilt tooled 17th Century vellum binding. Engraved title, 39 engraved plates (all, including full-page plate with the coat-of-arms of Haarlem with a view of the city in the background and full-page portraits of counts and countesses of Holland, Zeeland, and West-Frisia within oval ornamental borders with coats-of-arms), all engraved by Cornelis Visscher (1629-1658).

Condition

Old staining affecting only the upper and lower margins of the contents -- portraits not stained. 17th C. gilt-tooled vellum binding is soiled and stained but still attractive; corners professionally restored.
