- Lot Description
I*XL Spear Point Bowie Knife
10" spear point, double-edged blade with 5.5" false edge, 1.4" wide in front of the choil. 5" hilt with 3" oval German silver crossguard and pinned stag horn scales. Reverse of blade marked in three lines above the median ridge: G. WOSTENHOLM & SON / WASHINGTON WORKS / SHEFFIELD and with a spread-winged eagle holding a banner in its claws that reads: EQUAL RIGHTS. Reverse ricasso marked in .4" tall letters: I*XL . Accompanied by a German silver mounted leather scabbard with embossed gold gilt boarder line decorations on front and back and marked I*XL on the face.
Fine. Blade retains most of the original bright factory polish with some scattered minor surface scuffs and scratches, as well as some scattered flecks of surface oxidation and a couple of tiny areas of light pitting. All markings remain completely crisp and legible. Grips fine, scabbard near fine, with some light scuffing and minor loss to the embossed gilt decorations.Condition
