Howard Chandler Christy was a famous illustrator and artist who initially gained recognition from creating his famous Christy girl or "Gibson Girl," the personification of the feminine ideal of physical attractiveness. He quickly became one of the most popular painters of the jazz age and created portraits for some of the most important figures of the time.
