- Lot Description
Platinum photograph, 10 x 13 in., on 10.75 x 13.75 in. mount with "Heyn, Omaha, Neb." imprint in gilt. Inscribed in ink, lower left, "Copyright 1900, by Heyn Photo. Omaha."
Large and attractive formal portrait of a Sioux Indian, lightly pencil identified on mount as "White Cow Man," seated in a studio setting, wearing a single feather in his hair and a fringed jacket with detailed designs. The subject holds a bow with arrows in one hand, and a pipe and beaded pipe bag in the other.
Condition
Light, even toning. Image has lightened a bit. Some smudges, fingerprints on surface. Few minor, thin scratches on surface. Light corner and edgewear to mount, including creases in bottom right and left corners. Few light stains on mount verso.
Spoons dated 1790, salt spoons 1798, and forks dated 1825.
