sculpted from a dense limestone or siltstone pebble, and depicting three animals. A gracefully carved crane or heron with hollowed depressions representing eyes, and incised feathers is situated on the outer edge of the pipe; on one face, the image of a beast combining features of a heron and fish, is carefully incised; the opposite faced bears a fearsome incised “Underwater Panther." It was found near the Ohio-Pennsylvania state line. It was once in the Ferris Family Collection and the Dr. Knapp collection.
