Hepplewhite Four-Drawer Chest in Walnut
American, 19th century. A Hepplewhite chest of drawers in walnut with poplar secondary, having a rectangular top above four graduated and dovetailed drawers, the fronts thumbmolded and fitted with brass floral pulls and escutcheons, over a strip of beading and a shaped skirt, all rising on French feet, signed in chalk Davis Bets(?) on back of case and on back of top drawer; ht. 45.5, wd. 38, dp. 19.5 in.
Some minor surface wear as would be expected with age and use, including some light stains to top and a few small nicks. A couple of minor age splits, one near right edge of top and one to lower left side panel. A few tiny chips to corners of drawer lips with a couple of small patches. Drawer divider rail with a small loss below lower right corner of top drawer.
SHIPPING. At the request of the buyer, Cowan's will authorize the shipment of purchased items. Shipments usually occur within two weeks after payment has been received. Shipment is generally made via UPS Ground service. Unless buyer gives special instructions, the shipping method shall be at the sole discretion of Cowan's Auctions, Inc..
