Hepplewhite Bowfront Four-Drawer Chest
American, 19th century. A Hepplewhite bowfront chest of drawers in cherry, having a shaped top with inlaid edges over four graduated and cockbeaded drawers fitted with brass pulls and escutcheons, the shaped apron topped by a band of dark and lightwood inlay, all rising on flared French feet; ht. 35.5, wd. 40, dp. 22.5 in.
Provenance: Property from the Estate of the Reverend Dr. Compton Allyn, Cincinnati, OH
Rear, right corner of top with an age split. Small piece of inlay lifted on bottom left side of case. Some light age splits to sides of case. Some veneer patches on apron. Bail handles on bottom drawer replaced. Interior drawer support rails and drawer glides restored.
