- Lot Description
Gutta Percha Cased Factory Engraved Model No 1, Second Issue Revolver
.22 Short RF caliber, 3.18” octagonal barrel length, S/N 71336. Markings on top of barrel Smith & Wesson Springfield Mass. The gun is factory engraved throughout with a floral scroll design. The back strap has a presentation: W.S. Starr to L.A. Farrell 1865. The frame is brass with full silver plating and case colored hammer. Has pearl grips. Comes in original box. Box is made with floral carvings in each corner with a carving on the gun in the middle with Manufactured Only By over the gun and Smith & Wesson Springfield Mass. below the gun. Has a burgundy velvet lining.Condition
Most of the silver plating is retained with some minor flaking. The engraving and markings are very sharp and crisp. The gun has sharp edges and the pearl grips have an untouched yellowing patina. The hammer has traces of case color. The rare gutta percha case is in very good condition with the burgundy lining having some fading. Overall condition is excellent.
