English, ca 1778. A pair of sterling gravy boats having scrolling handles, beading along the upper rim, and shell-form feet and knees. Each bowl with engraved armorials to side. Impressed marks to underside, including date and maker's mark EWFG in a cross; oah. 4.5 in. (each), total silver wt. 20.11ozt (625.5g).

The underside of both handles have splits to the silver. The boat which has the more signifcant split to the handle also has a small chip to one foot. Photos of the splits and the chip are available at cowans.com
