Georgian Burled Walnut Chest of Drawers
English, late 18th century. A Georgian burled walnut and oak chest of drawers, having a rectangular top with a molded edge over two aligned and three graduated and dovetailed drawers, the fronts embellished with crossbanded edges and brass pulls and escutcheons, all rising on bracket feet; ht. 35.75, wd. 37.75, dp. 20.75 in.
Provenance: Purchased from Elizabeth Simpson, Lexington, Kentucky, ca 1960s
Some surface wear and imperfections as would be expected with age and use, including some veneer cracks and patches. One small veneer loss on case near l.l. corner of top left drawer. Top and sides of case with age splits. Repair to molding on l.r. side of case above back foot and a repair to spur of rear left foot. Front right foot with a later glue block support. Back feet possibly replaced. Scattered worming. Brasses later.
