Printed broadside, 9.25 x 13 in., By the King, A Proclamation. Declaring the Cessation of arms, as well by Sea as Land, agreed upon between his Majesty, the most Christian King, the King of Spain, the States General of the United Provinces, and the United States of America, and enjoining the Observance thereof. February 14, 1783. This was the English announcement of cessation of hostilities; reciprocal proclamation by the American Peace Commissioners was issued on February 20th, and signed in type by John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and John Jay. This particular example appears to be a period copy. It is on laid paper, but lacks the printer information ("London: Printed by Charles Eyre and William Strahan, Printers to the King's most Excellent Majesty. 1783," which is included on the copy in the Adams papers (https://founders.archives.gov/documents/Adams/06-14-02-0170).
