signed l.l., With the compliments of the Artist, G. Valentine, inscribed top in pencil, Nothing Doing, inscribed lower right in pencil, Hun efforts to Cajole the Russian Bear meets with no success.

Depicts fierce bear wearing military cap atop large tree limb growling at German soldier hanging onto the end of the limb, raising a flag that reads, "German Wants."

Depicts bewildered German soldier struggling to secure a hole in a wall through which enemies are trying to break through. On the wall a sign reads, "Western Front," and in the left background a large, oddly dressed woman surrounded by clouds watches the scene with an indignant look on her face.
