Fullstock Percussion Rifle By T. Barnes
.36 caliber, 40.5" heavy pinned octagonal barrel, no S/N. Bright finish, hardwood stock, brass furniture. Percussion lock with double set triggers, marked LOUISVILLE , top flat of barrel marked T. BARNES . Rear sight and front sight are old, likely period of use replacements. Replacement wood ramrod in pipes under barrel. Sellers lists at least four potential identities for " T BARNES, " with the most likely being the one who worked in Greensburg, IN circa 1857-1860 producing percussion rifles.
Good. Barrel with a mottled and oxidized brown over gray patina with some scattered pitting and impact marks. Fair bore with strong rifling and even pitting. Brass uncleaned, mechanically functional. Stock with scattered bumps and dings, with a couple of pins missing.Condition
