- Lot Description
.48 caliber, 45.75" octagonal barrel, browned finish, pinned, striped maple stock. Barrel signed J CLARK. Flat lock with rounded, bridled and fenced iron pan. Flat swan neck cock. Four-piece brass pheasant head patchbox. Brass furniture, German silver accents, double set triggers. Obverse cheek rest with German silver oval engraved with a folk-art American eagle motif, German silver octagonal wrist escutcheon. Buckhorn rear and blade front sights. Two sheet brass ramrod pipes, entry pipe and wood ramrod that is likely of more recent vintage.
Good to very good. Barrel with a dark brown patina, scattered surface oxidation and light pitting. Lock needs mechanical attention. Bore is dark, dirty and pitted with strong rifling. Brass with a medium butterscotch patina. Stock good with 17" of the forend restored. Wood showing use, wear, bumps and dings.Condition
