American (Boston), first quarter 19th century. A two-piece Federal secretary bookcase in mixed woods with banding inlay, the top half having a concave molded frieze with three urn finial top, with a brass eagle perched on top of the center urn. The two arched glazed doors open to a three shelf interior above a roll top which conceals a pull out writing surface and four pigeon holes centered between four dovetailed drawers on each side. The lower case consists of three drawers with brass ring knobs, all rising on apron shaped French legs; oah 86.25 in., desk ht. 43.5 in, w. 40 in., dp. 21 in., bookcase ht. 41 in., wd. 38.5 in., dp. 10 in.
