American (probably Fairfield County, Ohio), 19th century. A tall case clock having a German thirty-hour time and strike on bell movement and Luman Watson painted dial, ca 1820s, the case in cherry with broken arch pediment centered by an urn finial; ht. 94 in.
This case is nearly identical to a cherry case known to be made in Fairfield County, Ohio and pictured in the 1978 publication "Heritage of Architecture and Arts, Fairfield County, Ohio" by Ruth Wolfley Drinkle (published by the Fairfield Heritage Association).
Cowan's does not guarantee the working condition of this clock.
Dial is not original to clock.
