- Lot Description
English, late 18th-early 19th century. A hand-drawn and colored double-hemisphere map with floral garland surround, in ink and watercolor. Housed in a giltwood frame; 19.25 x 29.25 in. (sight), 22.5 x 32.5 in. (frame).
Provenance: Property from the Descendants of Bertha Benkard Rose, Oyster Bay, NY and Tucson, AZ
Condition
The work consists of two sheets joined together at center. There are repairs in the corners and where the sheets join, visible under UV light, but also noticeable in regular light. The sheet is not laid down on the mount, but taped to it at each top corner, on the reverse. Toning throughout.
