- Lot Description
English Blue and White Transfer Plates, Plus
English, 18th century. Three plates, including a pair of octagonal plates with imitated Chinese character marks to undersides, and a scalloped plate marked for Salopian, all having Oriental scenic reserves to center and along rims, PLUS a diminutive tea set comprised of a covered teapot, a creamer, and a bowl in blue and white with Oriental scenic decorations; largest dia. 8 in.Condition
The scalloped plate has one rim chip that has been recolored. Octagonal plates both have multiple chips and wear to rims, along with light wear to undersides. The creamer has even craquelure, several hairlines and miniscule chips along the spout. The teapot has a chip in the lid and old tape residue. Repaired crack to the top of the handle where it meets the body.
