- Lot Description
** Early Colt 1911 Commercial In The Original Box
.45 ACP caliber, 5" barrel, S/N C132054 (mfg. ca 1922). Blued finish, checkered double-diamond walnut grips. Matching serial number on slide, under firing pin plate. Right side of slide marked COLT followed by AUTOMATIC / CALIBER 45 and the Rampant Colt logo. Right side of frame marked: GOVERNMENT MODEL over the serial number. Left side of slide marked: COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A. over PAT'D APR. 20, 1897, SPET. 9, 1902, DEC. 19, 1905, FEB. 14, 1911 AUG. 19, 1913 . Long smooth trigger, smooth flat mainspring housing, wide hammer spur. Blued barrel with bright hood, marked "P" forward of swivel lug, interior of frame marked "F" above trigger well. Includes a single two-tone magazine marked COLT / 45 AUTO on the base plate. Includes a dark oxblood colored paste board factory box with a black end label reading Colt Automatic Pistol / Smokeless Rimless and .45 , and a second white label that reads GOVERNMENT MODEL with an added sticker with the serial number of the gun. Box contains some of the original factory paperwork.
About fine. Retains most of the lovely Colt commercial blued finish, with most of the loss due to scrapes and scratches above the triggerguard on the left side due to repeated inept take-down by someone who simply did not know how to properly disassemble the pistol. There are also some dings in the take-down and stop notches of the slide from similar ham-handed abuse. Otherwise, the only loss is some thinning along the sharp edges. All markings clear, mechanically functional. Fine bore and grips. Box well worn, missing one side of the lid with scattered surface loss.Condition
