- Lot Description
E. Heckoldt Double-Barreled Shotgun
12 gauge, 31" Damascus barrels, S/N 1325 . Length of pull from front trigger 13.34", drop at heel 2.75". Damascus steel barrels with horn lever, triggerguard and grip cap. Checkered forend and grip. Top of barrel marked "E. ECKOLDT SUHL ". Frame, lockplates, and tang expertly engraved with leaves, vines, and panels depicting deer, foxes, hunting hounds, and game birds. Some evidence of gold highlights present around hunting scenes. Hammers engraved with scrolls. Fitted with sling swivels.
Fair. Barrels have a mottled dark gray and plumb patina with some blurring of Damascus pattern. Right barrel appears to have a patched hole and small dent. Engraved scenes show some wear with some gold highlighting remaining visible. Horn accents have a dark color with some light flaking, especially on grip cap. Grip has stable crack near rear screw of triggerguard. Stock has finish wear from use with checkering being worn down to mostly smooth. Bores are fair; some cratering and pitting but no active corrosion.Condition
