- Lot Description
16.5" overall with a 11.75" spear point blade with a 4.5" false edge. Brass hilt, wood grips. Reverse ricasso with two-line arched Ames mark, obverse ricasso with USN/DR/1864 mark and secondary {anchor]/P/GG inspection. Pommel cap with script DR inspection. Later production single-screw grip mount in mortise cut. Complete with original brass mounted leather scabbard.
Very fine. Bright blade, well marked, brass with lovely, un-cleaned patina. Scabbard very good and solid. One of the best Dahlgren bayonets to come to market in some time.Condition
