- Lot Description
.45 caliber, 7.5" barrel, S/N 152251 (mfg. ca 1893). Silver and Gold plated finish, bright blue small parts, raised carved ivory grips. Black powder frame. Standard late production Colt barrel mark, three-date in two line patent mark on frame with Rampant Colt logo. Frame engraved in tight foliate scrolls and flourishes, with punch dot background shading, and similar motifs extending along the barrel, with ejector housing engraved as well. The recoil shield is engraved with western concho shell motifs. Hammer, cylinder and ejector rod housing gold plated. Small parts bright nitre or fire blue. Ivory grips nicely executed with raised carved Lady Justice motif. A very nice and crisp antique Single Action that has been very expertly enhanced and decorated to display like a 5-figure revolver for less than half the price. Today the cost of the engraving alone would easily exceed the high estimate for this piece.
Fine as refinished. Crisp markings and engraving throughout. Retains most of the finish with some flaking. Mechanically functional, bright bore. Crisp grips.Condition
