Lot Description

Menon. LA CUISINIERE BOURGEOISE: précédée d'un manuel prescrivant les devoirs qu'ont à remplir les personnes qui se destinent à entrer en service dans les maisons bourgeoises. Paris: Jh. Moronval, 1828. 6th Edition. 312 pp. 6 7/8 by 4 inches in modern cloth with gilt stamped leather spine.

L'ART DE CONSERVER ET D'EMPLOYER LES FRUITS contenant tous les procédés les plus économiques pour les confire et pour composer les liqueurs, sirops, glaces, boissons de ménage, etc ; pour faire suite à la Cuisinière de la campagne et la ville. Paris: Audot, 1829. 3rd Edition. 178 pp. with frontis engraving.

"Menon" is the name given to an 18th Century French cookbook author whose true identity is not known.

Condition

The modern binding is fresh and Near Fine. The engraved frontis engraving in the first work is stained. Both works show intermittent foxing and toning. The final leaf of the second title has a small tear which does effect a few letters of the index/table.
