.45-70, 33" round barrel secured by two barrel bands, no S/N. Bright finish, case hardened receiver, walnut stock and forend. Lower swivel plate marked in two lines CONN / 1902, indicating that this was the 1902nd rifle delivered to Connecticut out of 2,000 ordered by that state ca 1871-1872. Originally ordered in .43 Spanish, the guns were later re-barreled by Peabody for the state of CT. and chambered in .45-70. Standard Peabody markings on left side of the receiver, rack number D /51 in wood behind triggerguard. Long range rear sight, front sight / bayonet lug, jag-head cleaning rod, sling swivels. Original socket bayonet and US M-1873 scabbard are included.
