- Lot Description
CDV of conjoined twins Millie & Christine McKoy, credited to J. Wood, New York. The McKoys (1851-1912) where born into slavery in North Carolina and sold into exhibition, eventually ending up with Barnum's American Museum. They went by the stage names "The Carolina Twins", "The Two-Headed Nightingale," and "The Eighth Wonder of the World".
Condition
Even toning to CDV. Slight surface abrasion along lower portion of photo, near the twins' boots.
Chip at bottom of one of the decanters. Key missing.
