- Lot Description
.69 caliber, 42" barrel secured by three barrel bands, bright finish, walnut stock. Original flint Harpers Ferry lock dated 1836. Re-convereted contract musket barrel dated 1835 with contract sub-inspection marks. Stock from a Springfield produced US M-1816 with weak Springfield inspection cartouche on counterpane as well as a percussion conversion rating cartouche. A clear Springfield master armorer's acceptance cartouche is present behind the triggerguard. The alphanumeric mating mark from percussion alteration is present between the stock flat and barrel tang. Retains both sling swivels and an original ramrod. An original US M-1816 socket bayonet is included as well.
Good, as assembled. Barrel cleaned to bright and showing some scattered surface discoloration as well as some tool marks from the re-conversion at the breech. Lock functional, bore fine. Stock with bumps, dings and mars and a small chip out behind the breech tang. Barrel fit is not perfect at the breech. Bayonet good.Condition
