Colt Model 1860 Army Richards-Mason Conversion
.44CF, 8" barrel, S/N 7154 (mfg. ca 1877-78). Blued and color case hardened finish, walnut grip. Matching serial numbers throughout, with the loading gate and cylinder arbor assembly numbered 1351. Grip unnumbered. One-line block letter Hartford barrel address, two-line 1871/1872 patent mark on frame, " .44 CAL " mark on rear web of triggerguard. Rebated cylinder, Mason patent ejector rod, specially made Richards-Mason barrel with same profile found on the M1871-1872 Open Top revolvers, without milling for loading lever. Barrel was shortened to about 5" at some point in time and has been restored to full-length with the addition of roughly 3" of barrel and the front sight. One of about 2,100 M1860 Army revolvers produced as Richards-Mason cartridge revolvers, rather than alterations of percussion revolvers.
Good. Retains no finish with a mottled brown oxidized patina over a dull gun metal gray base color. Some scattered pitting present, markings mostly clear, cylinder scene weak. Mechanically functional, fair bore with moderate pitting along the whole length. Grip worn with scattered bumps, dings, rounding to the sharp edge and chipping at the leading edges.Condition
