- Lot Description
.38 Colt, 7.5" barrel, S/N 278383 (mfg. ca 1906). Blued finish, checkered hard rubber grips with Rampant Colt logo. One-line barrel address reads: COLT'S PT.F.A. MFG. Co HARTFORD CT. U.S.A., left side of barrel marked (BISLEY MODEL) 38 COLT. Three date in two-line patent marking on smokeless powder frame with rampant Colt logo. Standard Bisley grip frame with lowered target hammer with wide checkered spur and target trigger. Fixed rear sight dovetailed in flat topstrap, pinned front sight blade. Only 976 Bisley Flat Top Target revolvers were produced, circa 1894-1913, and of those only 96 were manufactured in .38 Colt. A very scarce Bisley variation in an equally scarce caliber.
Very good to fine. Retains much of the bright blue on the frame, with some fading and loss, and less on the barrel, which has a mostly smooth plum brown patina with some freckles of surface oxidation. Cylinder with some bright blue, and a light turn ring. All markings remain crisp and legible, all visible numbers matching. Mechanically fine, with a very good bore that is lightly frosted with some scattered pinpricking. Grips fine as well with light handling marks.Condition
