- Lot Description
** Colt 1911 Commercial Government Model
.45 ACP, 5" barrel, S/N C161758 (mfg. ca 1931). Blued finish, checkered walnut grips. Matching serial number on slide, under firing pin plate. Right side of slide marked COLT followed by AUTOMATIC / CALIBER 45 and the Rampant Colt logo. Right side of frame marked: GOVERNMENT MODEL over the serial number. Left side of slide marked: COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A. over PAT'D APR. 20, 1897, SPET. 9, 1902, DEC. 19, 1905, FEB. 14, 1911 AUG. 19, 1913 . Short checkered trigger, checkered arched mainspring housing, wide hammer spur. Blued barrel with bright hood; marked " K " forward of swivel lug; interior of frame marked " S " on top. Includes a single, unmarked two-tone magazine without a lanyard loop. Pistol is accompanied by a copy of a factory letter stating that the gun was shipped to Kruse Hardware in Cincinnati on July 10, 1931 and was the only gun in the shipment. The letter further notes that it was shipped with match barrel, a 1/10 front sight and a trigger pull of between 4.5 and 4.75 pounds.
Very fine. Retains the most of the blued finish with some thinning and wear, a few surface scratches and a minor take take down scratch. All markings remain clear and crisp. Mechanically functional, fine bore. Grips with some light wear and minor handling marks. A really fine condition match grade pre-WWII commercial 1911 in a wonderful state of preservation.Condition
