.52 caliber (56-56), 22" round barrel, S/N 42637. Blue and case hardened finish, saddle ring, wood stocks and sling swivel on bottom of buttstock.
This desirable Civil War era Spencer repeating carbine is in overall very good condition displaying a pleasing brown patina with some silver toning to areas of the receiver. The bore is good, the action crisp and the markings good. The stocks are overall very good with two visible inspector cartouches on the left side of the buttstock behind the saddle ring bar. There are scattered mars and scratches with a larger dent on the right front end of the fore stock.
Per Flayerman's "Guide to Antique American Firearms," only 50,000 of this early version of the Spencer carbine were produced between 1863 and 1865.
