Carte de visite of Dr. Mary Sanborn Cox dressed in her medical uniform, no backmark.
A native of Chester, NH, Mary Sanborn Cox (b. 1834) studied medicine and obtained her medical degree in 1864 from the Hygeio-Therapeutic College in New York. While little is known of Cox, it has been suggested that she may have attended to soldiers during the final year of the Civil War.
Even toning to carte. Light spots. Faint penciled notes on verso, difficult to discern.Condition
