American (New Hampshire), 18th century. A grain-painted black over salmon paint country Chippendale slant front desk in cherry with pine secondary, having a dovetailed surface, above a slant front writing surface, interior consisting of three central dovetailed drawers flanked by two over three valanced pigeon holes, above four graduated dovetailed drawers with wooden pulls, rising on bracket feet; ht. 42.5, wd. 43, dp. 20 in.
