- Lot Description
Chinese. A group of two decorative items including:
a large soapstone vase carved in high relief on both sides, one side adorned with chrysanthemums and figures, the other with foo dogs, figures accented with paint to faces, elephant heads on either shoulder, the ground with etched floral design; ht. 15.5, wd. 8.8, dp. 6.5 in.;
Plus, a ceramic cat-form pillow with brown and blue glaze accents and fine crackle surface to base glaze; ht. 4.75, wd. 10, dp. 4.5 in.
Provenance: The Bernice Shanker Asian Art Collection
Vase: Crack to lip extending down body onside with chrysanthemums, appears to be a break to this side as well to left of figure, one of dogs with break to face. Foo dog at lower left with crack to neck.Condition
